The Pre-School Room

The pre-school room is a large open space where children are encouraged to use their curiosity and imagination to explore the wide variety of resources available to them, we support learning through play in the seven areas of learning as set out by the EYFS.

Many activity choices

Children are encouraged to participate in and create their own learning experiences and become independent in the choices of activities they engage with.

In our indoor space we offer the continuous provision of sand and water areas, role play and small world play, constructions zones and a quiet book area, we promote the play of loose parts which help develop critical thinking, problem solving as well as supporting physical development, cognitive thinking, focus and engagement.

The children enjoy the ability to free flow into our rear outside space where we learn the importance of caring for nature and grow a variety of fruits, vegetables and herbs as well as make mud stew and herb tea in our mud kitchen.

"Having had children at the nursery for over 5 years now, I’ve nothing but praise for the staff and management of the nursery. The staff are friendly, flexible and hard working, they made sure my eldest was ready for school, and have been particularly amazing at helping potty train my youngest two. Lastly, but most importantly, my three love(d) their time at Butterfly Day Nursery."

Rich learning experiences

We help children gain vital life skills in independence to prepare them for their learning journey, so PSED (Personal, Social and Emotional development) is high on our list of priorities, this is encouraged through dressing, meal times and making their own choices as well as guiding children to build the skills they need to negotiate solutions and resolve disputes, we facilitate an ethos of sharing and looking after each other in a warm welcoming and happy environment.

Every child has a key person who knows them best and will plan rich learning experiences to encourage each child to reach their full potential. Children are supported under the guidance of experienced staff who want every child to succeed. Activities are planned around the children’s interests and learning journeys. We use Tapestry which is an online development journal for the children, parents can log in to see what their child has been busy doing at the nursery and add their own comments and photos. We build strong bonds with our parents as they are the richest source of knowledge about their child.
